Nigeria’s new Head Coach, Eric Sekou Chelle begins his tenure on Friday when he takes charge of the team in a crucial World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali.
The Super Eagles currently sit 5th in Group C and only a win against the Wasps can kick start a redemption of sorts going into the final run in of qualifying matches.
In the most recent confrontation between both countries, Rwanda stunned the Super Eagles 2-1 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last November, but today the takes are higher.
Also on Friday, 3rd-placed South Africa welcomes Lesotho to Polokwane, and home victory could propel the Bafana Bafana to top spot on the log.
Meanwhile, Benin moved to the top of the group following a 2-2 draw away to Zimbabwe o Thursday The Warriors showed character after conceding twice to come back from behind and secure a draw.
Benin skipper, Steve Mounie found the opener in the opening minutes after a goalkeeping error, before Dodo Dokou made it two just before the break.
With victory well in sight, the visitors took their foot off the pedal and were duly punished as England-based defender, Marshal Munetsi pulled one back for his side with just a minute to go before the break.
Coming back from the break, hit man Knowledge Musona, who recently returned to international football, finished off a great build-up with a one-time strike that saw Zimbabwe snatching a point.
The draw saw Benin go top of Group C while Zimbabwe leveled with Nigeria on 3 points but remained rooted to the bottom.
