Ama means people in Zulu language – a tribe of the Ngoni people of Southern Africa.
Tropics, of course, are the regions of Earth surrounding the Equator.
So, Amatropics means ‘People of the Tropics.’
Amatropics is an integrated multimedia African news platform with particular focus on happenings in the two African powerhouses – Nigeria and South Africa.
We aim to be the Number One source of authentic news on South Africa for Nigerians and vice versa.
Having plied the business of news as frontline journalists in each of the two Africa’s powerhouses for over 15 years back-to-back, we know the peoples, the issues, the strengths, the challenges, the misconceptions prevalent between these two continental leaders.
We also have unfettered access to critical stakeholders in both countries who can provide needed contexts for thorough understanding of how we can both move Africa on the path of greatness.
We will break down major happenings and issues as they affect and relate to peoples and interests in both countries that will enable individuals and organisations to make informed choices and decisions.
We will go beyond breaking news by going into “Hows” and “Whys” of events/happenings/news items in a clear and concise manner.
We will be telling stories more with visuals, photos, videos and infographics.
We will also be focussing on things that interest the younger generation of Africans living in a highly interconnected global village.
Periodically, will publish profiles of great African people, landmark events and organisations, especially on special occasions.
We will always independently verify every material before it appears on our platforms and will fact check every piece of information before publication.
All these and more we intend to do with your support and by the grace of God we shall make Amatropics a resounding success.
Looking forward to your partnership in this noble enterprise.
Thank you.
