After winning by an emphatic 12-1 score-line in the first leg of their Under17 Women’s World Cup qualifier, South Africa hosts Gabon in the return fixture at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.

The second half of the first leg fixture was called off by the Match Commissioner as Gabon could only field six players due to injuries.

Bantwana of South Africa Head Coach, Ntombifuthi Khumalo will be looking to try out new partnerships in the second leg as she prepares her squad for the next round of qualifiers against Nigeria.

Speaking to local media ahead of Saturday’s game, Khumalo said despite the issues that occurred in Gabon, she is pleased that her players will have an opportunity to test themselves on home soil before the tough test against Nigeria.

“We are very happy that Gabon have arrived in South Africa for this second leg. We were very worried that they would not honour the match, but it’s good that they have landed and we will have a match this weekend,” said Khumalo.

“We will be trying out new partnerships in this second leg and will give new players a run because we didn’t get to see them in action last week as the match was called off.”

The match will be televised live on SABC at 16h00. Attendance is free to the public.
