Kagiso township in South Africa’s Gauteng Province was alive with colour and energy on Thursday the country celebrated this year’s Heritage Day.
Over three-thousand people, most of them clad in traditional attires, came together to honour the province’s history and cultural identity.
Through music, dance and art, the celebration highlighted the spirit of South Africa’s most diverse province, where communities unite to showcase what makes their heritage unique.
Heritage Day is a holiday celebrated by South Africans every September 24 to recognize and celebrate the cultural wealth of the nation .
On this day, the people reflect on the heritage of the many cultures that make up the population of South Africa. Various events are staged throughout the country to commemorate this day.
