Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa Legend, Muisi Ajao says he’s impressed with Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after he lavished gifts on the Super Eagles following their exploits at the recently concluded AFCON tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.

“The President has demonstrated that there’s adequate reward for hard work, and despite failing to win the trophy, members of the Super Eagles must feel proud that their achievement did not go unnoticed,” said Ajao, speaking to amatropics.com from the United States.

Ajao tasked the team not to rest on their laurels, but to put in extra effort as the World Cup qualifiers beckon.

“This is the time for the players and technical crew to buckle up and redouble their efforts towards picking up a World Cup ticket. That, to me will heal the disappointment of not winning the AFCON,” he stated.

Tinubu had on Tuesday, rewarded each member of the Super Eagles with a national award (Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) a flat in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and a plot of land.

The President made the pronouncement when he received the players and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The delegation was led by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh.

All the team members, clad in green attire, and officials were in attendance.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu commended the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their hard work, assiduity, and sacrifice to come this far in the tournament, acknowledging the hurdles they consistently surpassed with steadily improving performance as they pulled through to the finals.
