South Africa’s Acting Police Minister, Firoz Cachalia, has unveiled new crime-fighting resources for the country’s police unit, SAPS.
Helicopters and armoured vehicles were handed over at the Tshwane Academy on Friday.
The fleet will support specialised units as festive season operations kick off.
But it’s no secret the service still remains chronically under-resourced, with communities often complaining of shortages at station level.
