Future football stars will be unveiled when the biennial FIFA U-17 World Cup kicks off in Qatar on Monday, 3rd November, 2025..
South Africa’s Amajimbos start their campaign against Bolivia in Group A. South Africa is among 10 countries representing Africa at the tournament. The others are Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire, Zambia, Burkina Faso, Uganda and Mali.
Qatar will host five consecutive U-17 World Cups, starting this year.
With an expanded field of 48 teams, the tournament is set to deliver a spectacle. Nigeria, the most successful nation in FIFA U-17 World Cup history with five titles, did not qualify for this year’s tournament.
All matches up until the final will take place across eight pitches at the Aspire Zone complex in Al Rayyan, about 9km (5.6 miles) from the centre of the capital, Doha.
The final on 27 November will be played at the 45,857-capacity Khalifa International Stadium , the venue that hosted six matches during 2922 FIFA World Cup.
This year’s tournament marks the third time the U-17 World Cup has been held in an Arab nation after Egypt hosted in 1997 and the United Arab Emirates in 2013.
Germany are the defending champions of the tournament.
