Eastern Cape’s Qhawekazi Mazaleni was on Sunday night crowned Miss South Africa 2025 at the pageant’s glamorous finale held at SunBet Arena in Pretoria,
Mazaleni will receive a cash prize of R1 million (about $58,000) and a luxury, fully furnished apartment, among other exciting goodies.
Outgoing queen Mia Ie Roux of Western Cape crowned the 24-year-old Mazaleni as her successor at the end of the event.
Mazaleni was up against nine other contestants for the title after one contestant withdrew.
First and second runners up was Luyanda Zuma and Karabo Mareka respectively.
Contestants for the 76th Miss South Africa pageant showed substance and depth.
Mazaleni, the newly crowned pageant queen says she will focus her reign on creating a meaningful impact on key aspects the country is grappling with, including women empowerment, youth unemployment, access to education and civic engagement among other challenges.
The year 2025 marked the first edition under Precious Moloi Motsepe’s leadership, with co-chairs Miss South Africa 1994, Basetsana Kumalo, and Peggy Sue Khumalo, Miss South Africa 1996.
