Victor Osimhen has become the first Nigerian player to hit 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League.
His lone strike secured Galatasaray’s first Champions League home win in seven years as they edged out Liverpool in Istanbul on Tuesday night.
Gala took the lead after 16 minutes when Osimhen calmly slotted home from the penalty spot after Dominik Szoboszlai was adjudged to have fouled Barış Alper Yılmaz.
The closest Liverpool came to leveling the score was after the break when Uğurcan Çakır thwarted Hugo Ekitiké’s clever back heel as Galatasaray held on for a famous win.
Victor Osimhen played for 71 minutes before being subbed off for Mauro Icardi but did enough to be voted Man of the Match.
