The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the assumption of duty by CP Dantawaye Miller, as the 34th Commissioner of Police in the territory.

In a statement on Friday by SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, Miller officially took over from CP Ajao S. Adewale, who has been redeployed for another strategic assignment by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D.

Miller was born on October 15, 1971, in Afogo, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the son of the late DCP Gajere Dantawaye. He holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Kaduna State Polytechnic, a B.Sc. in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Master’s Degree in International Studies from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

Enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in May 2000 (Course 20), Miller began his policing career in Bayelsa State Police Command in January 2002.

Over the years, he has served in diverse strategic and command roles across the country — including Divisional Crime Officer, ‘A’ Division, Yenagoa; Acting Aide-de-Camp to the then Governor of Bayelsa State; Escort Commander to the then Vice President; Chief Security Officer, Ministry of Petroleum; and Commanding Officer, MOPOL 24, Presidential Villa.

He was also Escort Commander to the then President of Nigeria, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), FCT Police Command, Area Commander, Karewa (Adamawa State), and Assistant Commissioner (CID), Oyo State Command.

Miller later rose to become Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Yobe and Edo States, before serving as Commissioner of Police, Information Technology (IT) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Until his latest posting, he was the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command.

A seasoned professional, CP Miller has attended several local and international courses, including Combat Operations and Counter-Terrorism Training in Gwoza, Maiduguri, Leadership Training at Shere Hills, Jos, VVIP Protection Course in Ginegal, Israel, and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College, Jos.

He is an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and an active Rotarian, known for his advocacy on community service and ethical leadership.

Described as a disciplined and forward-looking officer, CP Miller pledged to consolidate on existing security frameworks, enhance community-police relations, and strengthen intelligence-led operations across the FCT.

“CP Dantawaye Miller has pledged to build on existing security frameworks, strengthen community-police partnerships, and ensure the safety and security of all residents within the Federal Capital Territory,” the Command’s statement read in part.

The FCT Police Command also urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security across the capital city.

CP Miller, a devout Christian, is happily married and blessed with children.(www.amatropics.com)
