City of Joburg must allocate Permits for street traders, court rules

‎
‎The newly appointed Director of Defence Information at tge Defence Headquarters(DHQ), Brig. Gen. Samaila Mohammed Uba, has assumed duty and formally taken over from Brigadier General Tukur Gusau.
‎
‎During the handover ceremony in Abuja on Monday, Brig Gen Uba pledged to focus on four key strategic priorities in managing the Directorate’s affairs — unity of purpose, timeliness and transparency, digital innovation, and media collaboration.
‎
‎He commended his predecessor, Brig Gen Gusau, for what he described as “modest but meaningful achievements,” and wished him success in his future endeavours.
‎
‎Born on July 1, 1968, in Tudun Wada, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Uba began his military career at the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of Short Service Combatant Course 30.

He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on March 13, 1993, and initially posted to the Directorate of Army Public Relations before later joining the Infantry Corps.
‎
‎A Mass Communication graduate of Bayero University Kano, Uba also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Master’s degree in Strategic and Development Studies from Bangladesh University of Professionals.
‎
‎Over the course of his military career, Uba has held several command and instructional positions, including Commander 401 Special Forces Brigade in Borno State, where he was credited with notable successes against insurgents.
‎
‎He has also served as Public Relations Officer to a former Chief of Army Staff, Chief Instructor at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and Director of Joint Studies at the same institution before his recent appointment.
‎
‎Brig Gen Uba is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and a member of several professional associations, including the Nigerian Institute of Management and the Nigerian Society of International Affairs.
‎
‎He is married and enjoys playing squash and reading in his leisure time.(www.amatropics.com)
