One of South Africa’s most popular and award-winning soap operas, Scandal! will conclude its broadcast on e.tv in June 2026, marking the end of more than 20 years of daily viewership.

An official statement from e.tv said: “The ever-changing television landscape requires broadcasters to consistently review all programming and scheduling, and we believe that Scandal! has reached the end of its life cycle

“Since its debut, Scandal! became a household name in South Africa, captivating millions of viewers with powerful story-lines, unforgettable characters, and performances that have consistently set new benchmarks in local television. For almost two decades, the series has reflected the complexities of everyday life, sparking conversations and providing entertainment of the highest standard.

“e.tv extends its deepest gratitude to Ochre Media, the production company behind Scandal!, for their unwavering creativity and partnership throughout the years. The channel also pays tribute to the talented cast and dedicated crew, writers, directors, producers, technicians, and all those behind the scenes, whose artistry, commitment, and passion have been central to the show’s remarkable success and longevity.”

Helga Palmer, Group Head: Local Programming and Strategy at eMedia added, “We are proud of what Scandal! has achieved, not only as a top-rated television property but also as a vital part of South Africa’s cultural landscape. We thank the entire production team, the cast past and present, and our loyal viewers for making this journey extraordinary.”

And in the words of Stan Joseph, Executive Producer at Ochre Moving Pictures, “Producing Scandal! has been an incredible journey and a true labour of love. .

“For close to twenty years, our writers, directors, actors, and crew have poured their hearts into bringing authentic South African stories to life. We are deeply grateful to e.tv for their trust and to our audiences for their unwavering support. While it is bittersweet to say goodbye, we are proud of the legacy of Scandal! leaves behind.”

Scandal! will remain on air until the end of June 2026, ensuring that viewers have the opportunity to continue enjoying the drama as it moves towards a memorable finale.
