The most popular Google Search terms in 2023 in South Africa include queries about the weather, online betting companies, and the South African Social Relief of Distress Grant.
Google Trends is a tool created by Google that analyses the popularity of Google Search queries.
The popularity of different search terms and topics over time can be checked and compared to other topics in specific regions.
The data are broken down into the most popular and increasingly popular search queries, which refer to the exact term typed into the search bar, and the most popular search topics, which relate to a bundle of search queries that relate to the topic.
The search queries appeared in lowercase and thus were kept that way, and some queries with slightly different spacing or phrasing appeared in multiple positions.

Top search queries
The most common search query in the country this year so far has been “weather”.
This query has almost certainly been popular in Cape Town over the last few days as winds and rain have been battering the city.
More commonly though, it is most likely searched by people wanting to plan their outfits or activities for the day.
