New Year tragedy: SA couple found dead at holiday resort

South Africa’s Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, who is currently suspended by President Cyril Ramaphosa following a wave of corruption allegations, says he is ready to testify at the judicial commission of inquiry.

He and other senior officials have also been accused of political interference.

Mchunu says he will await the judicial commission of inquiry established by President Ramaphosa to give his side of the story.

Mchunu was speaking on the sidelines of the ANC Musa Dladla region’s celebration of International Mandela Day.

This is Mchunu’s first public appearance since being placed on special leave.

KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lt-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi had accused Mchunu of interfering in police matters.

However, Mchunu, who has been placed on special leave by President Ramaphosa, maintains his innocence.
