As anxiety builds up to Wednesday night’s highly-anticipated “Jollof Derby” between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Ghana Black Stars, head coaches of both teams shared their thoughts ahead of the Unity Cup encounter.
Super Eagles gaffer, Eric Chelle, acknowledged Ghana’s pedigree, calling them a “strong footballing nation,” while expressing confidence in his own squad.
“It’s a great cup. Ghana has a great coach, but we have a crop of good players and a great team. I am focused on bringing something new to the team. We want to improve,” Chelle said.
His Ghanaian counterpart, Otto Addo, highlighted the historic rivalry between the two nations, noting that his youthful squad is fully aware of the significance of the encounter.
“The rivalry between the two countries dates back many years, and my young team are very aware of what lies ahead,” Addo stated.
The match promises fireworks as both sides look to assert dominance in one of Africa’s fiercest football rivalries, with pride, form, and regional bragging rights all at stake.
Kick off time at the GTech Community Stadium is 19h00 Nigerian time.
