South Africa national team head coach, Hugo Broos on Thursday named his final 23-man squad to face Lesotho and Nigeria in next month’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers slated for Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.
The Belgian mentor cut down his squad after initially announcing the preliminary squad over a week ago. Broos made the announcement of his squad in a live broadcast on SABC 1 on Thursday.
Bafana Bafana will lock horns with Lesotho on Friday, 05 September, before taking on Nigeria in a mouth-watering tie four days later on Tuesday, 09 September.
Both matches will be hosted at the same venue in South Africa, as Lesotho does not have a CAF-compliant stadium to host international matches.
South Africa, who currently occupy top spot in Group C with 13 points in six matches, are in pole position to qualify for the 2026 World Cup to be co-hosted by USA, Mexico, and Canada.
