Condolences have continued to pour in for late South African political journalist, Tshidi Madia who died in hospital on Wednesday after a brief illness. She was 42.

Her colleagues at Primedia broadcasting say they have lost a powerhouse following her death.

Madia recently worked as a political editor at Eyewitnesses News and contributed on 702, Cape Talk, 947 and KFM among others.

Eyewitnesses News’ Editor in Chief, Nisa Allie, described Madia as brave and fierce.

“She was the jewel in EWN’s crown. She was a powerhouse. She was brave. She was the consummate professional, who worked tirelessly in pursuit of the truth. She led by example, mentoring and training many young political journalists. She formed a formidable politics team, which she was so proud of, and delivered one exclusive after the next, with absolute humility and professionalism. Our thoughts, prayers and support are with Tshidi’s father, her siblings, her nephews and nieces, aunts and uncles, cousins and broader family,” says Allie.

Madia was known for her ability to engage with politicians across the political spectrum.

RISE Mzansi National Communication Director Mabine Seabe says Madia was commonly known as a no-nonsense, fierce and unbiased media practitioner who plied her work with passion, love and accuracy.

“Her warm yet direct way of interrogating politicians and other public figures will be sorely missed. On behalf of RISE Mzansi, I wish to convey heartfelt and solemn condolences to the Madia family, the Fourth Estate, and all her loved ones. May her soul rest in peace. Lala ngoxolo, Tshidi,” says Seabe.
