The South African Weather Service has issued warnings for disruptive snow, damaging winds, and dangerous waves.
Residents are advised to prepare for a significant drop in temperatures, with freezing conditions and scattered showers expected across many parts of the country.
The EMS has appealed to residents to be vigilant when using heating devices that have resulted in fires in recent times in Ekurhuleni municipality.
The extreme weather could result in localised flooding, especially in low-lying areas.
Hail and damaging winds are expected to occur between midnight of Wednesday and 10pm on Thursday.
Tshwane EMS spokesperson Lindsay Mnguni says, “Maximum temperatures are expected to be low. Severe thundershowers are expected. There’s a 60% chance of rain occurring in Tshwane.”
