South African political party United Independent Movement (UIM) President, Neil de Beer has died at the age of 56. The party confirmed his passing on Saturday morning after he lost the battle against cancer.
De Beer was a national security advisor to former president Nelson Mandela.
He also served as intelligence operative of the African National Congress’ (ANC).
De Beer had previously worked for the apartheid government.
