The semi-final draw for MTN8, South Africa’s premium preseason football tournament, was confirmed by the Premier Soccer League [PSL] after Sunday’s quarter-final matches, with Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns set for a semi-final showdown.
Pirates were the first team to book their place in the last four after beating Polokwane City 2-0 in Soweto on Saturday, in what was the opening game of the new 2025/26 season.
The Buccaneers secured the victory with goals from debutant Oswin Appollis as well as a Patrick Maswanganyi penalty.
Meanwhile, Sekhukhune United survived a first-half scare to come back from 2-0 down and secure a 3-2 win against TS Galaxy at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Stellenbosch FC were the third team to secure a spot in the semi-finals after a 3-2 win against AmaZulu FC at the DHL Stadium on Sunday.
