Head Coach of South Africa’s Orlando Pirates FC, Abdeslam Ouaddou (Pictured),, and five unnamed team members are in hospital following a road traffic accident on the R21 highway, near Johannesburg on Sunday night.
According to the club, the team were returning from their 3-0 victory over Chippa United in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape at the time.
The 46-year-old Ouaddou, a former Moroccan international, and his colleagues had stopped to help at the scene of a collision when a Nissan bakkie hit the stationary vehicles, striking them. All six suffered serious injuries.
The club says their families are receiving support, while Pirates continues to monitor staff members’ recovery.
