Reigning African Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen has joined forces with other Super Eagles squad members to resist cyberbullying directed at their teammate, Alex Iwobi.
The action comes in response to the barrage of criticism hurled at Iwobi following Nigeria’s defeat by Cote d’Ivoire in last Sunday’s AFCON final.
Following the setback, social media was swamped with nasty remarks and criticisms directed at Alex Iwobi, forcing some celebrities to defend the player.
Users on social media expressed their dissatisfaction with the online harassment, urging detractors to stop criticising Iwobi and instead show support for the entire squad.
Unfortunately, the constant criticism took its toll on Alex Iwobi, who deleted all the content in his Instagram account due to cyberbullying.
However, his Eagles teammates, including Victor Osimhen, William Troost-Ekong, Samuel Chukwueze, and Joseph Ayodele-Aribo, have come together to support their teammate and condemn cyberbullying.
They emphasised the significance of team togetherness in a post on their social media accounts, regardless of triumphs or defeats.
“We win together. We lose together. We are all one. Some of our fans should do better. @alexanderiwobi,” the post read.
