Football icon Lionel Messi led Inter Miami to the knockout stage of the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup on Monday following a 2-2 draw with Brazil’s Palmeiras in Group A.
The result sets up a tantalising reunion with Messi’s former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after both sides progressed to the knockout phase.
Miami let the game slip when they allowed the Brazilian side to fight back from two goals down to seal top spot and confirm an all-Brazil Round of 16 clash against Botafogo.
Champions of Europe PSG recorded an easy 2-0 victory over Seattle Sounders, paving the way for the clash with their former star forward Messi and his surprise package of a club Miami.
