Kwara United defeated Abakaliki FC 4-3 on penalties (0-0 after regulation time) to win this year’s edition of the President Federation Cup, Nigeria’s oldest domestic trophy, at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
It was a memorable day for the Afonja Warriors as they ended a long wait to be crowned Nigeria FA Cup champions for the first time in their history.
By this victory, the Tunde Sanni-tutored side have qualified for the 2026 CAF Confederation Cup.
Saturday’s final game was attended by the governors of Lagos and Kwara States.
Earlier at the same venue, Rivers Angels beat Nasarawa Amazons 4-2 (also on penalties; 2-2 in regulation time) for their 10th Federation Cup title.
