City of Johannesburg’s Transport and Roads MMC, Mr. Kenny Kunene has resigned with immediate effect.
In a letter to the Speaker of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, Kunene said he is stepping down as both MMC and a Patriotic Alliance councillor, following allegations and public scrutiny linking him to an alleged member of a murder syndicate, Katiso “KT” Molefe.
Kunene was found at Molefe’s house last Monday when the police went to effect an arrest for the brutal murder of Oupa “Dj Sumbody Sefoka.
He maintains that the allegations against him are unfounded, although PA had already suspended him.
The embattled former MMC maintained that he is stepping away from the spotlight while his party investigates the matter, adding that it is the interest of the public he needs to clear his name before returning to serve them.
Kunene says he remains committed to the upliftment of communities and will continue to support the Patriotic Alliance’s broader mission.
