The Mayor of Johannesburg, Mr. Dada Morero has apologized for the water crisis in the city.
He says the metro is working assiduously to ensure water supply is fully rerstored.
Morero was reacting to protests in Coronationville, Westbury, Newlands and surrounding communities. The protesters disrupted traffic on Wednesday morning but allowed scholar transport to pass. Most entry and exit points for areas surrounding Westbury were blocked with burning tyres and logs.
Residents took to the streets over water shortages, which they say has been ongoing for nearly eight years.
Several people were struck by rubber bullets as police tried to disperse the crowd. But the protesters have vowed to continue demonstrating until the issue is resolved.
