Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero (Pictured), has survived a motion of no confidence.
He won by 144 votes to 75 in the vote decided on Wednesday. A total of 219 Municipal Council members voted for the motion.
Johannesburg chief whip Sithembiso Zungu also survived a no-confidence motion. 179 members voted against the motion, 69 members voted for it, and there were 6 abstentions.
The Johannesburg council debate motions of no confidence against the mayor, council speaker and chief whip on Wednesday and Thursday.
The DA says the economic heart of South Africa is falling apart under the current leadership.
