The people of Botswana on Friday witnessed the inauguration of their newly-elected president, Mr. Duma Boko.
South Africa’s Deputy President Paul Mashatile is among dignitaries in attendance at the event.
Boko is the leader of Umbrella for Democratic Change that defeated the governing party, Botswana Democratic Party in the recent elections.
The Heads of State and Government from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region are also in attendance at Boko’s inauguration.
Boko, a human rights lawyer, led the opposition that defeated Mokgweetsi Masisi of the Botswana Democratic Party.
Boko’s main challenge will be to address the problem of the economy that has led to the high unemployment rate and poverty.
