The CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2024 will be contested by defending champions Senegal as well as competition debutants, Mauritania on Saturday, 26 October at 15h30 Local Time.
The two-week competition has reached its pinnacle with the continental title set to be decided this weekend in Hurghada between the two finalists who will be meeting for the second time following their Group B match that surprisingly went 5-2 in favour of the debutants.
Despite their slow start, Senegal eventually found their rhythm and showed their championship mettle when they edged hosts and favourites, Egypt by 2-1 in the semi-finals thanks to goals by Mandione Diagne and Ninou Diatta.
The win over the hosts sees the defending champions well on course to defending their title but will have to dig deep against a spirited Mauritania side that humbled them in the opening match.
Post their impressive win over Senegal, the debutants continued their ferry-tale run, which included a 7-4 win over Morocco in the Semi-Finals to set up a mouth-watering second meeting with the defending champions on Saturday.
Mouhamedou Wedou, who fired a hattrick against Morocco will be one of the key players to watch for Mauritania against the strong Senegalese side.
For their qualification to the finals, Senegal and Mauritania will be joining Seychelles as the trio of hosts to represent Africa at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup next year set to be hosted on African soil for the first time in Seychelles.
The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will take place between 01 – 11 May 2025.
The Finals and third-place play off of the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2024 will be live on CAF’s Official YouTube Channel, CAF TV.
The final will be preceded by a third-place play off between tournament hosts, Egypt against Morocco in what will be a fiercely contested match for a podium finish by the two north African nations.
