The Belt and Road Initiative for Sustainable Development (BRISD) and China Association for NGO Cooperation (CANGO) have unveiled the “2024 White Paper on Carbon Inclusion Development”.

The initiative was launched in collaboration with NaaS Technology at the UN Climate Change Conference COP-29 underway in Baku Azerbaijan.

The 2024 White Paper on Carbon Inclusion Development” aims to strengthen global cooperation between CSOs and enterprises to address pressing environmental challenges.

This landmark event marked a significant stride toward fostering public engagement in sustainable development and carbon reduction efforts.

Mr Qaiser Nawab, President of BRISD, at the event, highlighted the importance of partnerships between civil society organizations (CSOs) and enterprises in addressing global sustainability challenges.

“Enterprises and social organizations are vital partners in driving transformative change for sustainability.

“This collaboration is a testament to the power of synergy, as it promotes innovative solutions to climate challenges while fostering inclusivity,” he said.

Nawab also emphasized the importance of embedding sustainability into every decision-making process.

“Imagine a future where sustainability is a shared value embedded in the core of every decision we make.

“That future begins here, with the initiatives we launch today, and with the commitment we uphold as global citizens,” Nawab said.

The event underscored the role of integrated development between social and traditional enterprises in enhancing public participation in carbon reduction initiatives.

It also showcased a successful Chinese practice in promoting carbon-inclusive development.

Other key highlights of the event were speeches by Mr Haoran Chen (Chengdu Carbon Inclusive Platform), Rza Aliyev (Nizami Ganjavi International Center), and other global sustainability leaders.

The event also featured the release of the White Paper: “A comprehensive case study on carbon-inclusive development practices in China”, presented by NaaS Technology and the Chengdu Carbon Inclusive Platform.

The COP-29 side event brought together government representatives, international organizations, NGOs, and media to explore innovative models for public engagement in sustainability.

The event concluded with a commitment to building inclusive platforms that empower communities, foster international partnerships, and promote a more sustainable world.

It served as a platform for dialogue, cooperation, and action, aligning with the overarching goals of COP-29 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).(www.amatropics.com)
