Nigeria defeated Jamaica 5-4 on penalties (2-2 in regulation time) to win the 2025 Unity Cup Invitational tournament in London on Saturday night.
Moses Simon fired Nigeria in front within 10 minutes of kick off at the Gtech Stadium , but Jamaica pulled level shortly after with a cool finish by Kaheim Dixon.
Scoreline finished 1-1 at half time, but Super Eagles regained the lead less than 10 minutes after the restart through Samuel Chukwueze.
However, that was also short lived as the Reggae Boyz breached Nigeria’s defence yet again to restore parity, thanks to Jon Russell.
At the final whistle, the result remained at 2-2, and in the ensuing penalty shootout, the Super Eagles converted all five kicks to win 5-4.
By this victory, the Super Eagles have successfully defended the trophy they first won in 2004.
In the third-place playoff decided earlier at the same venue, Ghana pounded Trinidad and Tobago 4-0.
