Nottingham Forest defender, Ola Aina has been recalled by Nigeria for next month’s AFCON Qualifiers after being frozen out by former coach Finidi George.
Aina will be joined in the 23-man squad by Forest’s Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi who is also making a return following several months out due to injury.
There were also recalls for William Troost-Ekong and South Africa-based defender, Olisa Ndah.
The Super Eagles open their qualifying campaign for the 2025 Africa Cup in Morocco with a tie against Benin in Uyo on September 7 before flying to Rwanda for their second game three days.
The squad, which is due at training camp in Uyo from next week Monday, will be led by newly-appointed German coach, Bruno Labbadia, whose appointment was announced Tuesday.
