South Africa’s former Minister of Finance, Mr. Trevor Manuel has been appointed chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup to be co-hosted by South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, made this announcement on Thursday at a media briefing held at the Cricket South Africa headquarters in Houghton, Johannesburg.
Manuel, who served in South Africa’s Federal Cabinet from 1994 to 2014, was the Finance Minister from 1996 to 2009.
Former Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ncguka is also on the LOC Board, along with Western Cape Cricket Council Chairman Johannes Adams, and KZN Cricket Union President Eunice Bobat.
McKenzie says he has no doubt the Board will deliver the best ever World Cup tournament.
